[He creates] characters of unusual richness and depth."-- The Seattle Times "Tumbling, hallucinogenic prose....'Serious' writers...might do well to examine his technique."-- The New York Times Book Review "Lyrical writing and compelling characters...Koontz stands alone."--Associated Press "In every industry there exist 'artists' that are not only unforgettable, but know their craft better than the rest. Dean Koontz...is among these artisans."-- Suspense Magazine "[Koontz] has always had near-Dickensian powers of description, and an ability to yank us from one page to the next that few novelists can match."-- Los Angeles Times "Perhaps more than any other author, Koontz writes fiction perfectly suited to the mood of America...novels that acknowledge the reality and tenacity of evil but also the power of good...[and that] entertain vastly as they uplift."-- Publishers Weekly, Praise for Lightning "Brilliant...a spine-tingling tale...both challenging and entertaining."--The Associated Press "Mr. Koontz quickly grabs the reader's attention...There are enough imaginative twists here, along with likable characters, to win him new fans and please old ones."-- The New York Times "Romance, action, and suspense...holds the reader through the sheer momentum."-- The Washington Post "Crackles with excitement from beginning to end...impossible to put down."-- The Orlando Sentinel "A master of terror...a page-turning thriller. Synopsis#1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz's brilliantly thrilling novel of suspense. In the midst of a raging blizzard, lightning struck on the night Laura Shane was born. And a mysterious blond-haired stranger showed up just in time to save her from dying. Years later, in the wake of another storm, Laura will be saved again. For someone is watching over her. Is he the guardian angel he seems? The devil in disguise? Or the master of a haunting destiny beyond all time and space? "A gripping novel...fast-paced and satisfying."-- People
This book has been a top three of Koontz's work. It haunted me to re-read it for years. Watchers being number one. However, find it at the library or a used book store or flea market. This book was shipped from Toledo, Ohio west 266 miles to Glendale, Illinois before it's trek east to New Jersey, where it sat for 5 days, in Pennsylvania only 77 miles away from my location. totally unacceptable shipping process. But the book and story had me wanting to throw the book through a window, while another part wouldn't let me put it down. A must read!!
