Shure M44E Stylus
The unit received does not track albums at all. I have tried different, heavier settings of tracking force but it will not track. I adjusted the anti-skating force with no improvement. It slides across the album without engaging the groves, like there is no needle on the end of the mount. But I can feel it & see it. I put the old stylus back on the tone arm for playing my albums & shelved the new one that was received. The turntable is a Panasonic Technics Transcription Direct Drive Turntable, model SL-Q303, The old stylus will track at 1/2 gram. I did increase the tracking force to 2 grams per the instructions on the back of the stylus package but that did not help. I do not know of any other avenues to pursue to help this elliptical stylus. this is adequate for most peoples use. Maybe not for the audiophile, but about a third the cost of the brand name replacement.
