    For the love of Ireland

    With the stunningly picturesque Ireland as its backdrop this is perhaps John Wayne's best non-western movie. With the beautiful Maureen O'Hara as his love interest it is a love story, a tale of redemption and a comedy all wrapped in one well written film. A witty script, well acted by a stellar support cast including Barry Fitzgerald, Ward Bond and especially by Victor Mclaglen as the 'villainous' Red Will Danaher. This DVD also has some wonderful Special Features including documentaries featuring Maureen O'Hara as well as a commentary by her and A Making of The Quiet Man by Lenord Maltin. This film has one of the best choreographed fight scenes in the history of movies between Wayne and McLaglen. It is an enjoyable rollicking yarn.

    This is an old Irish classic - a feel good movie which was a favourite of the director and all that took part in it

    The actual print was not up to expectation. I had accidentally given my copy to the op shop so had to buy a new one. I was disappointed in the quality. My original version was on VHS and had weathered dozens of viewings over more than 40 years. The extras were well worth viewing except that the best one was faulty and I reluctantly gave up watching it. The story line- a simple romantic comedy that had perfect casting and glorious Ireland as a background. It had a love story, personality conflicts,gentle quirky Irish humour, and a fight to end all fights with no blood on the ground. Not a fan of John Wayne myself but he was perfect in this role.Maureen O'Hara is gorgeous and some famous old Irish actors doing what they did best. I used to wonder why I loved the movie and was surprised and ...

    Breathtaking, Beautiful, funny n old World Charm.

    The Quiet Man is an excellent n most beautiful movie with superb acting n set in Ireland. I have to tell everyone the picture quality is in the toilet sadly on this print. I found out the BlueRay edition is so much better n it's not cheap but seriously worth the money as this film is pure gold.

    A wonderful, charming story set in Ireland with an all star cast and a lot of endearing characters.

    One of John Ford's best movies, with an all star cast, its charming, funny and romantic all at once. The DVD arrived in a timely manner, however, the Special features video was poorly recorded, with the soundtrack somewhat out of sync and the film quite grainy. The movie itself was of excellent quality.

    Great movie with an Irish flavour.

    Great yarn with an Irish flavor. John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara always worked really well together and this is no exception. The other characterisations were excellent, too.
