Phantom sound system
I have a Pioneer head unit 2600 watt Phantom 4 channel amp and a 10 inch Phantom Subway Surfer in the trunk and the 6.5 400 watt 4 Way in the door. In a Mazda Miata 92 sounds great

Fairly Amazed
I installed 4 of these in my 97 Golf. I used 7mm sound deadening inside the doors and covered as much of the outside skin I could reach. I'm running a Boss head, Audio Pipe EQ with a Crunch 4000 watt amp that boils down to 500 RMS X 4, these speakers are rated at 400 peak so I figured around 200 RMS each. I cut a lot of midrange on the EQ, just my taste, so I was playing Jimi Hendrix red house and threw everything at these speakers and they took it and sounded great. The bass was amazing for a 6.5, and when it was done there was no apparent damage, they still sound great.
