I bought an "Electronics Repair Mat". Straight out of the plastic wrapper, it had a strange scent to it. When I first used it, the smell made me feel uneasy. So I stopped my repair and took it to the sink. I washed it with hand soap, dried it with a paper towel, and now the smell is gone. There most of been a light layer of talcum powder on it. Now I use it when ever I need to repair an electronic. Heck, it even great for working with glass beads.
