I was very happy to find this very attractive product on EBay at a very attractive price. We had previously owned one for almost 10 years, and had since tried several other brands. This model takes the prize in looks, speed, and ease of use,

  • Solid Coffee Maker

I've owned it for 5 years. Has all the functions I need and none I don't. It's programmable and has a single cup setting. You can turn off the "coffee's ready!" beep and it shuts down if it's programmed to brew but doesn't have any water. The carafe keeps the water hot for hours. Oh yeah, it brews a great, hot cup of coffee. We actually only use it as a single brew machine since my wife and I prefer different strength coffee. It works so well as a single brew that I can't fathom falling for the keurig hype/money pit. The only negatives are minor in my opinion and they both have to do with the water level gauge (something that's easy to get over). For one, it's a hard to see. You have to look at the machine from the side to read the gauge's numbers. Second, if you pour water in the ...

  • Krups FMF5 Coffee Maker

Call me a coffee addict, but, I can not function in the morning, without my pot of coffee. Twenty-plus years of working 2nd Shift... I have had, over the years, the expensive, and the cheap, and those "in-between" coffee makers! After reading a review in "Cooks Illustrated", I decided to try one more time with the higher end. So far, this refurbished Krups is performing well in the "coffee taste" division. (I do grind my coffee beans. which I highly recommend!) I also love having the carafe -- all coffee makers should be furnished with them. One recommendation -- watch the water filling and do not overfill. It does not actually take ten (10) actual cups of water. It did take a bit of coaxing to set the time, and especially to get rid of the ANNOYING BEAPING FEATURE when the coffee ...

  • Krups FMF5

The Krups FMF5 is the best coffee maker I've found that includes a stainless thermal carafe. Brew time for 10 cups is under 7 minutes. Brew temp is a steady 185 degrees Fahrenheit. It is easy to use and easy to clean. I would prefer a higher brew temp but the 185 degrees produces a very good cup of coffee. It is a little shy of being 'excellent' due to its brew temp but, for my money, the Krups FMF5 is the best coffee maker on the market for the features it contains.

  • Thermal Carafe Difficult

This unit makes coffee - IN A HURRY - 3-4 minutes, and the taste quality is excellant. The Carafe is the problem! It's "globular configuration" (almost completely ROUND) interior adds to the difficulty in pouring; especially, pouring fresh water into the reservior. The rather large opening (in which the lid sits during brewing) pours into an even SMALLER spout, rendering the pouring spout incapable of handling the flow, and I find myself pouring water all over the counter versus into the reservoir. Accordingly (and especially if I'm in a hurry), I have to make an adjustment in the amount of coffee versus using the same scoop I've always used. I could go back and fetch more water to circumvent the above effort, but then again, how much time should I have to take to make a pot of ...
