To me, a computer is just a tool to get something done, not a play thing. I've long since outgrown toys. I'm very old school. I don't have a tablet, or anything starting with the letter "i" or even a cell phone. If someone is happy being chained to one of those gadgets good for them. I cherish my freedom. I don't want to have to relearn everything all over again. I don't waste my time surfing the net or playing games. I actually have a life to live past this stupid keyboard. So Windows 7 was a nice improvement over XP. It was no effort to pick it up. When I fell for the free Windows 10 upgrade, it seemed to me that Microsoft pulled a fast one on this old coot. All my work files ended up in "read only mode" and no one, even Microsoft, could figure it out why it happened or how to fix it. So I reverted back to Windows 7 and disabled their constant reminders to upgrade. Windows 7 works for everything I need to do and is comfortable to use. It fixed a lot of the annoyances of XP without introducing any new ones.Read full review

Have you been wondering whether to chuck your old Win Vista computer in favor of something more up to date? Since Vista is no longer supported by Microsoft and especially since many websites and apps won't run properly or at all on Vista, this upgrade could be for you. You get to use your reliable but slightly out of date computer, and you get to keep all your programs, documents pictures and files because this Win 7 upgrade package allows you to upgrade from Vista with everything in place! No need to back up and then reload everything. Wow, what a gem of a deal!

The product is indeed what it was claimed to be: a never-used original retail package for upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. I needed to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 because Microsoft support for Vista is ending on April 11, 2017, and I did not want to buy a new computer. For $95, I can now use my computer until Microsoft support for Windows 7 ends in another three years, and, if I want to keep my computer beyond then, I can upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Installation and setup were basically simple. However, I did run into an immediate problem: You're given a choice of updating Windows 7 first and then installing it (recommended), or just installing it without updating it first (not recommended). I chose the recommended option to update first and then install. However, when I did so, the "downloading updates" screen just ran indefinitely. After doing some research online, I cancelled the updates and went back and chose the not-recommended option of installing Windows 7 without updating it first. With this option, the Windows 7 upgrade installed smoothly. The next issue I encountered was that after installing the Windows 7 upgrade, I needed to download and install, I think it was, about 300 updates to Windows 7. This process took a very long time. It required a lot of patience. When the updates to Windows 7 were finally downloaded and installed—voila!--everything worked perfectly! Moreover, everything on my computer, both programs and the internet, works much faster. It’s like I have a new computer!Read full review

I upgraded my computer from Win Vista. I followed directions very closely and had Microsoft scan the computer prior to upgrade. Also performed a backup of files. Follow directions and everything went OK. I can now upgrade to Win 10 at no charge but after reading several reviews I have decided to stay with Win 7. The upgrade took several hours so don't be in a hurry. Win 7 doesn't have an email program so after some research I installed Mozilla Thunderbird with support from my internet provider. I also use AVG virus program which has to be disabled during the install. My computer runs much faster now and can support many of the newer sites that are available. One Happy Camper!

Could not get windows to operate correctly after installing new hard drive by using restore discs. The Windows 7 Premier Home Edition came with instructions for download. Downloaded without problem. Working great.
