    Item was brand new and exactly as described by seller. The item is not capable of what I thought it was. Cannot use it as a network hard drive. It is wifi, but it is a wifi source and cannot log into other networks, therefore not usable as a network hard drive server. Good item at a great price if you have use for it, just read description carefully. Even if I was able to use it, not sure the canvio app still exists. Instructions say to download it using QR code, but app is not there.

    Toshiba, really nice hardware, poor software. Works okay, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

    Among other things this is supposed to create a way to connect a portable HDD to your wireless network. And while it does do that, it does it poorly. It was a struggle to get it to connect with my router. But once connected it was stable. When restarting your network turn on the router first then wait for the router to boot up first, then turn on the Canvio Wireless Adapter, or CWA. Do it in this order or the router won't recognize the CWA. Once it does. I was able to send and receive files to it from every computer on my network. You absolutely have to have at least one Wi-Fi enabled device to talk to the CWA in order to set it up. File transfer time is slooooow, you can't add any kind of executable file to the connected HDD through the CWA, and any file you store or update through the ...

    Nice device with a bad app.

    You can share video or photo within the local network but you can't make any changes on the files. The app has the edit,modify and delete buttons but when you want to delete the picture. The app says "the file can not be deleted!".

    Not even any good as a doorstop

    I tried this with my iPad. I could see what was on a USB memory stick or on a memory card plugged into a card reader plugged into this Toshiba thingy. I could view JPEGs but not transfer them to the iPad. That is, of course, on the rare occasions that it maintained a connection to my iPad. Basically, the software is so half baked that it renders the device useless for use with Apple iPads. Save your money and give it to the town drunk who'll have way more benefit from it than you will from this landfill.

    Stops responding every time I tried to protect the files with a password.

    I had to reset the device several times after it gets stuck when I tried to set a password. I think buying this was a mistake. Without a password, anyone can connect to the device via a laptop and delete files on the drive.

    IOS compatibility

    Good product. Works well to stream to apple devices. Will only be able to access Apple device content on older IOS versions 8.1 or earlier. This impacts the ability to download from iPhone or iPad to mobile drive.
