Synopsis
From the highly acclaimed author of "Ninety-Two in the Shade" and "Nothing But Blue Skies" comes this collection of 33 exquisite essays borne of a lifetime spent fishing everywhere from Montana to Iceland., Infused with the author's deep experience of wildlife, the outdoors, and conservation, both reverent and hilarious, the 33 essays of "The Longest Silence" illuminate what a life dedicated to sport can mean., From the highly acclaimed author of Ninety-Two in the Shade and Nothing but Blue Skies comes this collection of breathtakingly exquisite essays borne of a lifetime spent fishing. The thirty-three essays in The Longest Silence take us from the tarpon of Florida to the salmon of Iceland, from the bonefish of Mexico to the trout of Montana. They bring us characters as varied as a highly literate Canadian frontiersman and a devoutly Mormon river guide and address issues ranging from the esoteric art of tying flies to the enduring philosophy of a seventeenth-century angler. Infused with a deep experience of wildlife and the outdoors, both reverent and hilarious by turns, The Longest Silence sets the heart pounding for a glimpse of moving water and demonstrates what dedication to sport reveals about life.

- 0***s (105)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseVery good used book quality and as described by seller. Timmy shipping, good packaging, and the overall value of this book is awesome. The book is 2x cost for a new one, but the book seller shipped is all new (used but no marks of ever being used meaning great quality), and is 50%+ cheaper. Shipping cost was highly reasonable because seller gave it for free. Thanks so much and this is such a wonderful experience dealing with this seller. Love it!
- n***a (665)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseComic was as described and shipped quickly. Packaging was poor and it got crushed a little in the corner at shipping, so all the pages are crinkled. It was sent in a plastic bag with no cardboard at all to protect it or even bubbles, just thin plastic. Price was right though and it's readable. After I flatten it a bit it should be acceptable even with the minor damage. Thanks and God bless.
- 4***7 (322)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchase2009 1st edition hardcover of "Summer Knight," by Jim Butcher is as pictured & described. Arrived quickly. Packaged in a loose, weak plastic bag. Got banged around a bit by the postal service. A couple layers of bubble-wrap would go a long way in protecting against postal brutalization. Got a great deal & book looks very good overall! Seller recommended, but be aware of flimsy packaging & risks involved. Great return policy. Thanks for the great deal!
