Classis Cary Grant Movie
The Talk of the Town, is a very engaging classic movie with Cary Grant in a suspenseful roll. His character is framed for a crime he did not commit. Thrust into accepting help from an old lady-friend, just minutes before a rent tennant (a law professor) arrives early. The hilarity (and tension) ensues as the two characters debate the finer points of law. This debate continues until Cary Grants character is revealed to be the alleged fugitive. Masterful Combination of Drama and Comedy
For a 1942 production, it's wonderfully fast-paced and solidly entertaining for the entire two hours. (Note: anything shorter would have meant cutting out important and clever details.) Plot twists are everywhere, the acting is superb, and the script is brilliantly written. I have seen many of Cary Grant's films, but this is one of my all-time favorites, and the match-up with Ronald Colman is superb. I have added this movie to my permanent collection and look forward to watching it many times. Even the fact that it's done in black-and-white is appropriate for the story line and gives it a "classic" feel. I loved trying to figure out "what was going to happen next" the first time I saw it -- and then was amazed to find, the second time, that I had forgotten several key actions from the first time through!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
