These cost $15 when new just an FYI!
These are excellent pencil sharpeners! They sharpen pencils almost as quickly as a regular plug in Sharpener! Plus you get a mostly centered pencil tip with a nice long tip at that (average length for the period of sharpener). The down side is that these sharpeners mostly have issues with battery corrosion. That's not the fault of the unit but rather from people just leaving batteries in them for years and years. I was able to buy mine for cheap thankfully as broken, all I needed to do was clean the corrosion off with a wire wheel on my Dremel at half speed. This required taking the unit apart which is easier said then done. But for the average person with limited mechanical abilities this might be a daunting task. So yes in my opinion the KP-4 is an excellent product from it seems a bygone era when simple things such as pencil sharpeners were well made. But unfortunately that time has passed it seems so now as a sketch artist I must search out used vintage examples to sharpen pencils reliably.Verified purchase: Yes

Best battery powered pencil sharpener I've ever used.
In my experience the KP-4A is the best battery powered pencil sharpener made. I was down to one d fell back on almost-as-good other models.
