The Panasonic KX-TGA101S is a digital cordless single line handset phone you can use to make or answer calls from anywhere in the house, as long as you are within range of the base unit. As a handset, this will not work without the base. Say goodbye to phones with cords and get connected with the Panasonic KX-TGA101S cordless phone. The base plugs into the phone jack, giving you the clear, reliable connection of a landline, while the handset receives a wireless-network signal from the base. This gives you greater mobility within the home than a traditional landline receiver and the freedom to enjoy the option of walking to another room to take a private call. As an alternative to carrying your Panasonic handsets from room to room, you can place a handset in every room and stop running across the house to answer the phone every time it rings. Having extra phones lets you keep them on the base when not in use and to keep them fully charged. The 2-cell Ni-MH batteries do, however, hold a charge for an extended period of time. The battery gives you up to 17 hours of talk time between charges, and you can find replacement batteries as accessories if you need a spare. When starting with no charge, it takes a mere 7 hours on the charging base to fully charge this cordless phone. You do not have to worry about the signal for this phone interfering with other devices in your home because it runs on a separate frequency. This Panasonic handset phone system works in the 1.9 GHz frequency range, which means it will not conflict with other wireless devices, such as keyboards, computer routers, or other household devices that use the 2.4 GHz frequency. Built-in DECT 6.0 technology provides long ranges, excellent clarity, and helps to deter eavesdropping. You can also plug a headset into the audio port to enjoy hands-free talking. You have the option to set up this Panasonic device with your choice of 10 melodies for the ring tone. A backlit LCD screen makes it easy to check the caller ID information to see who is calling before you answer. A light-up indicator lets you know at a glance when you have a voicemail message. You can adjust the volume or mute a call with the touch of a button. At under 8 ounces, you can comfortably hold this phone for an extended talk session without your hand getting too tired, and with dimensions of 6.65 inches by 1.93 inches by 1.38 inches, it is small enough to prop on your shoulder when you need to free up a hand for just a moment. To talk to someone in the next room, you can use the handset-to-handset intercom technology in these Panasonic digital phones. This unit can store up to 50 numbers in its phone book, and you can use the redial button to scroll through the last five calls and redial the saved numbers. I got what I requested but didn't bargain on the problems encountered.
I wanted the product to match my existing cordless system. That is why I was looking for a specific older model. When selling electronic items with batteries, the batteries should be removed so they don't corrode just sitting around. All of the rechargeable batteries were bad, so I bought new batteries. It turned out that this phone set was programmed with a different frequency so the handsets would only work with the supplied base. Reliable handset
We have been using this particular Panasonic model for about 12 to 13 years and it's been so reliable that when we upgraded to a much newer model we soon discovered that our old Panasonic was much better, so we put it back in service and only replace handsets when one is damaged. This model has a very good speaker, which we use every time we are on the phone. The phone book is limited to only 30 numbers but we get by just fine with that.We also have found that the voice mail is perfectly acceptable and have noticed no shortcomings in that.The length of time that it can run while off the charger depends largely on the quality of the battery that is used but we often go a full week before we have to recharge the handsets. All the controls are easy to access and voice quality is excellent so it's a keeper! I'll keep on buying handsets on ebay whenever we drop one and damage it. Perfect addition to my old Panansonic phone system
I needed one additional handset and this one was an exact match. I put in fresh batteries and linked it to the base station via the menu. I came up and worked with no issues Once I synced my phone book it was working exactly as the other units on my system.
