It's an original Vw part, no longer available new from the dealer for quite a few years now.
Basically it probably sat on a dealer shelf from when parts were available for the model and got hidden on a back shelf out of sight for years.
The new aftermarket ones aren't the quality of the original ones.
And they aren't an original Vw part.
The new aftermarket boots are of less quality don't come with the new plastic base, and they still cost more.
It's nice to see that these type of parts aren't out of the price range of an average enthusiast like you might think.
As far as proper fit and finish?
It's uneventful to install it because it fits and looks like it should.
The only way to tell that it's not original to my vehicle is the cast in date code was about 8 months after my car was produced, heck I'm happy it's that close.
That stuff doesn't really matter unless you are going to pebble beach.
