Just the features that I wanted and works great.
My 97 year old mom has been having trouble with the original remote, way too many small buttons and I started looking for a different option and I came across a couple remotes that might work. Then I came across this one that said I could program only the channels that she watches into it and there is only 6 buttons, so after reading some of the reviews I ordered it. Once I received it I read the instructions and after a few minutes I had it all programed and ready for her to use, we have the tv and cable box and both connected really easy. The only hard part on programing was figuring out the brand of the cable box but that had nothing to do with the remote. It works great, she is getting used to it and out of the many channels we get she only watches 3 of them and I programed it so that only those 3 will work with the remote. She can see the buttons better and I don't have to get the channels back on track all the time. Before I would just use the "last" button and she could use that one to go back and forth between 2 channels. Then I would have to change the two channels for the weekend, but she would quite often hit a wrong button since they were so small and get off track. Programming this remote is not as easy as they claim!
We finally got the codes for the TV and then the Direct TV to work, but when we programmed in the 9 channels we wanted as favorites, they were either jumping all over the place or had writing on the screen that you then had to use the other original remote to clear. When we cleared the remote back to factory settings so we could reprogram the channels, then we couldn't get any of the codes for Direct TV to work. It is a good idea, but very poor planning. This is supposed to be for elderly people to use, so I purchased for my Dad who has limited vision. The directions are way too confusing. Easy to use, somewhat difficult to initially program
I bought this for my mother, who has dementia. She was able to use it for a short period of time, but no longer is able to. When we set it up, we had a difficult time programing it to the new tv we bought her. I didn't think there would be a problem, as the tv was new, but they had a way around not having our specific tv listed. A great change for a senior!
This remote was for my 92-year old aunt who has eye problems as well as other issues. She kept hitting wrong buttons on her TV remote that caused the set to go to "no signal"; a true problem in the senior living community that she currently lives in. She is so happy with this Flipper remote. With only a few buttons to deal with, it has changed a bad situation into a very positive one. Programming instructions are not accurat...
Programming instructions are not accurate in places. If you get one, download the PDF manual from their web site as it is a bit easier to understand. I wasted a lot of time entering codes for the STB and then pressing the channel selection (up/down key) to see if I had put in the correct code (as instructed), only to find out later that this key does nothing until you first program in at least a couple favorite channels. Flipper Big Button Universal Remote
Nice for our elderly mother to operate as all she needs is off and on. NOTE: The mute button is very small and beside the ON button. This causes a problem because when she is trying to push the on button with her shakey hand, she doesn't see the small mute button and pushes it by mistake. We pulled the mute button out and now all is well. We have not gotten it to program with the Comcast that is used at her facility, but will work on that some more. We leave the cable box on and she just turns the TV on and off with the remote. Excellent product for Seniors
My 94 year old mother is blind. This is easier for her to use. She is not pushing all sorts of buttons that she shouldn't be pushing. Although, the first few days were a challenge for her, she has now gotten used to it and is quite happy with it. Difficult to set up, although I think that there are explanations on google that are easy to follow. We lucked out when a techie family member came to visit and set it all up for her. Simple Remote / Complicated Programming Instructions
Great, simple TV remote alternative for a senior with dementia. Programming the remote is fairly easy, BUT we’re still adjusting the settings on the TV and cable box to make it completely compatible. FINALLY, someone designed an easy to use remote. Many claim to be, but they didn't test their remote with my Mom. This one is PERFECT. NO hit TV then power, next cable box and again power, hoping you did it in the correct order so you could change channels without seeing "fixed channel" which confused the heck out of Mom. THIS one is fool proof and works well. Easy to set up and once that is done, close the lid to end the confusion with too many buttons for Mom. ONE button to turn both TV and Cable Box ON (or OFF) at the same time. The ability to program the remote to cycle thru only favorite or the few most watched channels and cut the hundreds of unwanted channels out to make TV selections easy and fast.
