For the Emperor!
You play as battle-hardened Sternguard veteran space marine, Malum Caedo. Enter enemy occupied territory and brutally eradicate hordes of heretics and daemons single-handedly with your epic arsenal of weapons and mighty chain sword. The presentation of this game is that of old school FPS games like Doom, but with modern improvements and very fluid gameplay. The level design, although simple and reminiscent of old FPS games of the past, is well thought out and provide secret locations containing weapons, ammo, armor, health, and power ups through some platforming and thorough exploration. The gameplay loop is straight forward, kill everything in sight, collect keys to unlock doors and proceed to the next level. The loop is very enjoyable, the enemies show no mercy on higher difficulties and provide a good challenge even for the very experienced player. The story is not super important, but it's not bad either. Some lore is sometimes explained by your companion servo skull, but as your fighting for your life you'll miss out on a lot it's saying. The servo skull will at times help you navigate levels and provide tips and locate weapons, ammo, armor, and health. Before Boltgun, I never got super into the original Warhammer 40K board game, any of the other video games, books, or any the lore surrounding it. However, after playing Boltgun and the latest Space Marine 2, I am now very invested in exploring this epic dark fantasy war-torn universe even further.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
