Good but could have been great
Here is the incomplete recording of the famous Monsters of Rock Donnington Castle 1980 show which Rainbow headlined. Sadly the recording sounds over saturated and poorly mixed. The 2 tracks from the old LP release of the show actually seem to sound better than this new mix. The video is nothing new, this 30min piece has been circulating for years in the various trading circles. Although I am happy to have more of the recording see the light, this was Cozy's last show with ths band and it would be nice to actually hear the full show, and in better quality. (Heck, the Rainbow 76 Tournee set with Dio sounds light years better than this mess) If Down To Earth was an important release for you, grab this set, otherwise track down Munich 77 on video or Germany 76 on CD for a much better (and complete) performance.

This is a great concert & DVD. It plays on any US made DVD player. I have a Region 2 DVD of another Rainbow concert & I needed to buy a different DVD player to use it. This disc set is a great find.

The most Mesmerizing Performance of Guitar playing that I've Ever Seen !
When I was 20 years old I remember seeing this same video on TV of Rainbow playing at this Donington concert when it first happen in 1980 and I Never Forgot it .It Totally Blew Me Away ! I've Never heard a more Mesmerizing, Spaced Out , Acid Rock , Psychedelic Guitar performance from any guitarist since watching a Jimi Hendrix concert .Richie Blackmore guitarist and founder of Rainbow was in Top Form at that Donington Monsters of Rock Concert in 1980 .I always wished that Somebody would someday put that Donington concert from 1980 out on Video .And they Finally Did !! Now I wish that the Whole Donington Concert with All of the bands that performed at it were on a Video but the performance that I most wanted to see again was that performance from Rainbow with Richie Blackmore ..and finally somebody put it out on Video ...Now to be honest , I already had a Bootleg copy of this Rainbow at Donington concert that I bought years ago ..but this New Official release of Rainbow at Donington is So Much Better in Picture Quality and Sound and it has extra footage not found on my bootleg copy and this particular New copy includes a CD of the concert with more song's that Rainbow played at the Donington concert in 1980.So I'm Glad I bought it .It's Worth it .
