The Linksys dual-band router offers several upgrades from previous models. This model offers draft-n 2.0 networking and the option of running it in either a dedicated or mixed mode. The router features wireless-n, which is faster than wireless-g, but the router is also compatible with 802.11b and wireless-g standards. The Linksys WRT310N Gigabit router has MIMO, technology utilizing multiple radios per band to maximize signal and reduce dead spots. The router offers speed of up to 300 Mbps for watching video content, gaming and fast data transfer and networking between wired PCs and other devices through the four LAN ports. This model offers a variety of security options to ensure that your network is protected, including WEP 64/128 bit, 256 bit WPA2 and Wireless Protected Setup. Additional security is provided through the SP firewall and MAC address based filtering. The technical specifications of this Linksys router include 2.4 GHz of bandwidth, four Gigabit LAN ports, one Gigabit WAN port, internal antenna, DHCP, NAT, firewall, port forwarding, VPN pass through, keyword and URL filtering, and WPS, WPA and WPA2 encryption. The wired connections include RJ45 wired terminals and the router supports wireless, Gigabit and Ethernet network protocols. The Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit router supports Windows 2000, XP, Windows Vista, OS X and Linux operating systems to accommodate all your computers and devices. Router setup is simplified by the userfriendly web-based administration interface. Simply follow the instructions in the manual to connect the router, open any compatible web browser and select the set up options, as prompted, to set your new router up in minutes. A CD-ROM is also included for setting up the router. The CD-ROM will detect your internet connection, allow you to enter details for login and guide you through the process of configuring your wireless network and security settings. Once you have set up the router, you can install Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA), which is a useful tool for finding devices that are connected to your network and monitoring any outside devices attempting to gain access. Additionally, LELA manages software updates for the router and other Linksys equipment.
