Stategic joy especially combined with Night Fighter
I have only played this Brimmicombe-Wood combination SOLO. Still waiting for the updated rules by the genius. However any seasoned war-gamer can adopt any rules to suit their needs. I have a more than casual interest in The American Civil War. To this day the Yankees have yet to win at Shiloh, Murfreesboro or Getysburg. a plug for solo gaming and using the double die rule. And of course it is an absolute delight to revisit Bull Run, Mosbey's Raiders and "Shenandoah" - Jackson's Valley Campaign. The learning curve in "Bomber Command" is slightly on the higher side although it is fun planning bombing missions. I am loving this combo because my uncle was a Lancaster mid-upper gunner (pictured firing at an Me on the cover) who completed 28 missions over Germany and is lucky to have ... Impossible to know their feeling as they left English soil. And get this, the heating was only in the cockpit area, meaning the tail gunner and mid-upper gunner had to ensure they had enough coats to survive the often freezing conditions. These two men are entirely alone (except for radio contact) for the 8 to 12 hour nerve racking endurance session. A thought to ponder! When an how would you have peed, and what precautions would you take to make sure you did not arrive back in England carrying extra luggage in the lower regions your "flight-suit". Highly recommended. This is a brilliant strategy game that will demand planning raids and relying on a little luck to get the bombers back home.
