Get the Extended Version of The (original) Wicker Man. You won't be sorry.
The Wicker Man (extended version) is the version Hammer Films originally wanted to release without censors getting in the way. The copies in the UK were lost as the edits were literally paved over (interesting story that Christopher Lee recounts). The only full version of the film was found decades later in the possession of American director Roger Corman. Highly recommended. Not only is there more content in the film, the editing is different. Scenes that happen in the beginning of the theatrical release actually take place at the end of the extended version which gives the movie a different narrative. I'm glad to have this film back in my possession as I owned it when it first came out in the early 2000s but lost the copy to time and moving. Highly recommended viewing for anyone who ... I bought this movie because I heard people talking about it; and it sounded very intriguing. The movie is like nothing I have ever seen before. It is classified as a horror movie; but it isn't that scary. It is more of a lesson to the viewer. A reminder to the viewer of a every day lesson we take for granted. To Proceed with caution to foreign places, and be aware of strangers. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was it viewed women as weak, just sexual play things. It is a good movie with a lot of suspense; and it's little disturbing. I would definitely recommend it to a friend, but it isn't for everybody. I would describe it first before telling them you got to have it. It is a movie that can be disturbing to some, do to the material. If they did want to buy it I would tell ... It's Time To Meet The Wicker Man.
This is a 2 disc set and includes an extended version of The Wicker Man. The film is awesome I have watched both versions and though similar the extended version is so much better. I found this for a great price, I believe in the 20 - 25 dollar range. I hope Ur able to find it for a decent price because it came out in 71. I am sure it is OOP, but maybe U will get lucky.

The Wicker Man (1973) - Extended Version
A frightening and thought-provoking film! The Wicker Man is a tantalizing mystery rife with complex and interesting themes including religious irrationality and intolerance, self-rightous hubris, and much more. The extra 11 minutes of footage in the extended version (disc 2) adds further depth to the characters and story, making it superior to the original theatrical version. A true classic!
