The Delonghi EC155M is a machine that makes wonderful espresso. Although it has clearance for only a small coffee cup or espresso cup, it’s quality and simple features make up for it. I would appreciate fill lines on the water tank, so you know how many cups to expect, but the varying sizes of cups explains their absence. Surprisingly good, hot espresso and a compact machine with no wasteful cups.

I bought it based on strong positive reviews, but it's a bit disappointing so far. After using it for over a week, following directions exactly, watching videos, and practicing to be more adept I find that: (1) The frother does not create firm foam, but does heat the milk with some bubbles (2) After tamping down the dry coffee, using an espressoOK,not great grind, the espresso coffee is not very rich, but does make a nice creama. INstead of a hard puck, you get a soupy puck, which is messy.

TL;DR If you are just looking to get into espresso-making and break the financial sink that is ol’ Sixbucks, I present you the cure in the DeLonghi EC155. DeLonghi is the trusted appliance brand in every household in Italy. Sure there are more expensive ways to brew espresso, but this little EC155 model gets the job done (and with plenty of crema, might I add) for a fraction of what you “should” spend per the bloggers, reviewers, and perfectionists. To get specific about the model, it is a single boiler and uses a portafilter. The portafilter, while maligned by purists, does make pulling a good shot much more failsafe for the at-home amateur. Will note that the portafilter has a couple plastic pieces and a rubber gasket that your hot espresso shoot through. Didn’t stop me but I do plan on getting a full stainless steel replacement at some point. Read full review

Fantastic inexpensive espresso maker. Does everything that Star-ucks does for a measly 30 cents a cup! Packaging was perfect and everything arrived quickly from Seattle Coffee Gear. A class act in the coffee world in my opinion. I haven't had good luck with inexpensive coffee makers in the past so I opted for the Square Trade 2 year warrantee as a precaution against failure. I have only two negatives concerning this machine. The steamer works very well but is a little short for my standard 12oz steamer carafe so I waste a few ounces of milk filling it to where the nozzle is in the milk. Next, I am limited to the small espresso cups since a latte or cappuccino size cup is too tall even with the drip tray removed. Not really a problem for me since I just transfer to a taller cup and after the steam heated milk and foam is added to the new & cold cup the temperature is just right for drinking. Now!!! Buy This Machine!!!! You wont be disappointed I promise you. You will love this machine like I do.Read full review

It hasn’t frothed milk like I hoped. The espresso is wonderful, though. I’ve tried tampering and not tampering. Unless you’re absolutely perfect at tampering then don’t tamper. Just make sure it’s relatively level with no pockets of air. The espresso comes out just as good.
