The DVD/VCR shows good picture and it records well. It has a HDMI connection and an up converter. the only thing missing was the remote but my old dvd had one that works on this machine.

Tried two of these, neither worked correctly. One the putting in a vcr tape caused machine to shut off and also eat the tape hen you tried to eject it. The other one, when I put in a store bought dvd, a message showed up that said this dvd may not be suitable for playback. What? It's a factory recorded dvd! Tried to record on dvd +r, -r, and +rw. If it even loaded, which was about 10% of the attempts, it would not record on any of them. Also any previously recorded dvd's I made from tv programs would not play. Again would Bly load about 10% of the time. This I found out is a known defect with this model and at least with one other model. JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, STAY AWAY from this one!

This is a used DVD/VCR Recorder with Tuner, remote not included. It is identical to my previous recorder, which developed a habit of ejecting the tape after 15 seconds of either recording or play, so I already had the remote. The tuner on the new one is not as powerful as my old Toshiba DVR670 and receives fewer PBS channels than my other Magnavox recorder, but so far it is working perfectly. I got what I paid for, and what I expected, but was surprised to see that it had shipped from India.

The things I like: I don't have cable service. I use an antenna. This unit has a digital tuner. I have 2 of these units. Overall, I'm very pleased with them. They have a wonderful picture quality, are easy to use to record programs, play backs on DVD or VHS are very good. I haven't tried dubbing. The things I don't like about this unit: No buttons on the front of the unit to operate it. You have to use the remote. The tuner does a nice job of receiving channels. But, it doesn't have a program guide.
The unit works fine but the manual is overly complicated and dense. It is definitely not vey user friendly. Mind you, this is coming from somebody who is very comfortable with audio-visual gadgets. I have 3 VCR's, 2 DVD/VCR recorders ( the other one is an LG) and 1 DVD player all connected to a KENWOOD amplifier and a PANASONIC 54" Plasma TV, all of which I connected myself, so I know what I'm doing. Nevertheless, I had to read the manual to get it working. It is not intuitive, but the picture quality is very good. This unit has a dig. tuner that will work with the VCR. If you want to continue recording tapes off the air, this is a good choice. Price is very variable, so shop around!
