The JVC Everio is just like any typical small camcorder. However, for the price I got it for, this camera was extremely good value. The camera records in very good Standard Definition quality video, and has a very good optical zoom range. The 2 microphones make for good sound recording, and the SD card slot makes for great memory expansion. I have only two issues with this camera: The battery life is not great, on a full charge you can burn through the battery if you record for 90-120 min straight, less than that if you're zooming in and out and recording on and off. The other issue may only be with my camera in particular; the microphone is very sensitive. If you jolt the camera while recording, drop it, or stick it in a strong wind, the resulting audio is loud, unpleasant droning.
I bought this new in 2011. The retail price was around $150.00, I bought it on sale for less. I would not buy another unless the price was much lower since it has such a sort lifespan. The bad points: -The cable to the LCD screen eventually will break, they all do it. Mine broke after less than 3 years of occasional use. -The touch buttons are very annoying and difficult to use. -Manual focusing is available but almost impossible to use. If you want to focus on something behind a tree branch, forget it. -The hard drive squeals very loud since new. Noise shows up on every recording. -Dust gets into lens and housing easily. Can't be cleaned. Eventually the zoom and focusing motors get noisy. -Supplied battery only lasts 20 minutes. -The video files are not MPEG, they are MOD files. The pros: -Before it breaks, it does have good video and sound quality for the price. It does not have HD video however.Read full review
Camera has functioned well. I'm not a huge camera buff, mostly bought to have videos of grandkids. Bought for ease of use - perfect. Picture quality very good. For my requirements camera is perfect. Priced right, added camera case, battery, and card at Best buy.
Love this camera. Small, compact, light...perfect. I used it on a road trip to Florida to take videos and stills of my daughter and granddaughter, landscapes, etc. The camera never left my hand and it was so easy to switch between video and stills.
The camera is unusually light, which would make one think that it is inferior, but it really workd great
