I now have 5 amazon echo dots so that i can use them throughout our home to control the lighting throughout our house. Obviously I've had to invest in far more than just the 5 echo dots to make the lighting and music control possible but it's been worth it, especially for the whole home music control features.

Sold me a 2nd gen not a 1st! Even after I emailed and asked for confirmation that it was indeed a 1st gen. The response I got was “Trust me, it is sealed and brand new. My rating here speaks for itself, I don't have the time to take a pic and send it, I usually don't with all of my auctions. If you don't trust me, there is always someone else you can buy this from”. This is my second dot. Wish I had a bigger house. I'd get more. I have both 1st and 2nd gen dots and I think I like the "twist" volume 1st gen better. I like it's slightly heavier feel. I've ordered some alexa enabled light bulbs and switches that should be here tomorrow. My aging parents are gonna love playing with their lights by voice command.

The Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation works really well! I used it to play my music when I am doing something in the house and my hands are dirty to touch things. I just have her find the music and stations I want to here and she plays it for me just with my voice. I also can get me some information when I need it like the weather or the news. It really learns fast as long as you add the programs you want it learn. Sometimes if it too loud in the house it won't hear my voice if I am from a certain distance from it, but other than that it is fantastic to have in my house. : )
