The camera had great picture, but the zoom doesn’t work. You can zoom in, but it will automatically zoom out. So the 20x zoom will only be good for a couple of seconds. Apparently online research shows that this is a major defect in these models, and Canon is the only ones to fix it for $400.

This is a great camera with what appears to be the same processor and sensor as the pro level cameras above it. One reason I purchased this model is because it has LANC connectivity, so that when I mount the camera on a studio tripod, I can control the zoom with a thumb control on the handle of the tripod. Video quality is excellent, and the zoom control - even on the camera - is very smooth and controllable.
