Likes: small size, ergonomic shape, 7x optical zoom, simple to use. Dis-like: Zoom lens too speedy for ease of framing subject, USB port cover a bit flimsy, colors are a bit inaccurate, could use a bit more manual control over shooting parameters. Overall, this is a good camera that works just fine for the weekend warrior and the casual travel buff; it 'points and shoots' well. Quality of its pictures is much better than represented on the LCD screen. Your must really download to a computer or printer to appreciate the quality of the images. As regards clarity of pix, if your using the zoom way extended, be sure to hold steady and avoid moving the camera when you depress the shutter button, otherwise you'll be writing here to complain of 'blurred pictures'. I would have given it a perfect score for its category if it had user control over hue, saturation, contrast.Don't hesitate to buy if your looking for great balance between ease of use and quality of photos.Read full review
The Nikon Coolpix S630 is a little gem! Small enough to slip into your pocket, its 12 Mega pixels is more than sufficient for normal photography. The equivalent 37-260mm zoom lens is good with 3.5-5.9 aperatures. Got mine for $30.00 packaged in original box with battery, cord, manual and charger. I own a Nikon D40, D70, & D200 but use this compact beauty just as much. Love it!

Just to summarize what I'm about to say: this is a pretty good camera with a few flaws. I like the quality of the images it takes, and the automatic setting feature it has so you don't have to change the setting of what you're taking a picture of. What I find deceiving is the zoom. That's the biggest letdown I had when I actually looked at what the manual and what it says on the camera. On the camera itself, it says it has 7x zoom. So that's 4x optical and 3x digital. When I purchased this I had seen everywhere that it had 5x optical zoom. So pictures don't look that well when you try to zoom in before taking a picture. It gets all blurry and it just looks like it's all digital. But when you take a picture with no zoom and the flash is either on or off, then you can zoom in pretty far and the picture still looks really good. The Nikon Coolpix S630 also has some pretty useful features that are really cool including the Sport Continuous mode which allows you to take pictures very quickly and takes pretty good pictures with hardly any of them being blurry even when you take the picture. If any of this is confusing, then just check this camera out if you're a beginner, because this is the camera for you.Read full review

This camera is excellent for the money. I took pictures while on my trip in Grenada. My daughter commented that the pictures where beautiful as it showed the scenery of the island. Great recovery time. My only dislike, it is very minor, the zoom button is not separate from the flash button. If the zoom button was located where you could zoom in and out with the thumb, it would be no doubt one of the best purchase I made for a camera. I bought it because I was able to recharge. It has a great battery life over 200 shots can be take before recharging.
