The Story behind the Light!
This movie shows how family, extended family and Glen Wescome influenced Thomas Kinkade as an artist. The actors' portrayals of the people emotionally draws in the audience and elicits a wide range of reactions. Jared Padalecki and Peter O'Toole did an excellent job of portraying the depth of the caring relationship and understanding between the artist and the mentor as well as the friendship between the two men. I have been fascinated by the light in Kinkade's paintings for a number of years and found the story behind the development of the technique very interesting.This movie shows how family, extended family and Glen Wescome influenced Thomas Kinkade as an artist. Nice Christmas Story
All the Christmas cliches apply to this movie without being sugary syrupy sweet: a magical time-miracles do come true-a time for family and friends. Two boys come from college to spend "Christmas" with their mother. They learn the "Cottage" is in foreclosure and need of repair. The older boy is a struggling young painter who needs inspiration direction and purpose. He learns this from a neighbor who is a well known aging painter played by Peter O'Toole who needs inspiration for one last painting and finds it. There are a few other humorous sub-plots with the townsfolk of Placerville who also find the magic miracle and friendship of the season. Peter O'Toole in a supporting role to me is the star of the movie. He gives a Master Class in acting. Nice to know a little about Thomas Kinkade's life
It was great to finally see a little of what Thomas Kinkade's life was like as it was brought to the screen. I have read his books where he has discussed his life, so bits and pieces of this movie was familiar as far as his Dad's character and his neighbor who was a painter (Peter O'Toole)and how he made such an impact on his life.There was a couple of very silly parts in the scenes with the church play that I feel was a waste of film but all in all it was a very nice film. The film only covered a small period of the life of Kinkade so it would be nice to even see more in the future. The actor that played Kinkade was very well suited and did a great job as well as Peter O'Toole. I would recommend that anyone interested in Thomas Kinkade as well as his life should see ... I have to tell you that this is about the best Christmas movies to come out in a long time. Jared Padelecki does a great job. Peter O'Toole one of the great actors did an amazing perfomance as a aging Painter that has a profound impact on a young painters life. Giving of oneself.It is a movie for the whole family. About the true meaning of Christmas. I can't reccomend it enough. I rented it and then had to buy it.
