I bought this hard drive last week to keep a backup of documents, pictures, videos and music. Positive: 1tb is great, finally I don't need to backup my files into a bunch of different things. I also like the RPM. For a occasion user it works great. I haven't found any negatives, but for some people the size and weight might be one. For me is just to have on my desk and use occasionally and the size and weight doesn't matter.
What's there not to love about a Seagate drive? In this case, examine the fine craftsmanship of this 1 TB external hard drive. What you see is really what you get. A sleek black case houses the drive, which is meant to lay horizontal. For those who would like to save desk space, this drive might not be for you. The drive is also designed to be powered 'on' whenever plugged in, which for me is it's only con. All-in-all, the space, the reliability, and the trusted name are excellent.
First off, if you are deciding on getting this for your dest top then the size should matter. Its a little bigger than about three DVD cases stacked up together. I use it with my labtop so I need an external power source to use it. The size isnt exactly 1 TB, its about 931 GB. Who's counting? Loading things on it goes fairly fast. I would say about 100GB take less than an hour. All in all I haven't had any problems with it freezing or anything like that. I am happy with my purchase! Thanks for reading!
What I love about this is that it has a lot of space. I set it up to back up my entire computer and it works out very very nicely. I decided to buy this because it was a "buy it now or best offer" and the seller took $15 lower than the buy it now price. Secondly, this product was recommended to me by a friend because it works with mac and PC, and when you use it for mac, all you have to do is format it, and then set it up as your "time machine device" if you please, and your computer will do backups whenever you want it to if you do not have a schedule for it set up. I am super happy with this purchase and now i feel a lot safer having my whole computer backed up, without buying a $300 1tb hard drive from apple.
I've never had a problem with Seagate products to begin with. This is a very easy to use (plug & play) device and I was able to easily and quickly put all of my computer files on it for backup with plenty of room to spare. A good value, with quality, for the price.
Awesome back-up unit for my two computers. Very easy to use; just connect and you are promted throught the process. Comes complete with nec cables, at takes up very little room. I'll be backing up my third computer with it as well.
I love this hard drive! I use extensive storage for my graphics projects and the elements that comprise each project. One TB sounds like an exceptional amount of space - but it fills up quickly. It was formatted for MS-DOS but it is easily reinitialized for MAC-OS. Plug and play, all the way. Dependable right out of the chute. I will no doubt purchase more of these little jewels. I bought this hard drive to store movies, music, pictures and most of my computer projects on for my classes in college. Some people thought it was overkill to get so much memory, but now I never have to worry about running out of space! I am running Windows Vista and when I plugged the hard drive in, my computer identified it right away and downloaded the driver to run it. The transfer from my computer to the hard drive was quicker than I expected, but it wasn't a mind blowing speed. All in all, its a terrific product and I would recommend it to anyone.
