Futurama was a great series that died before its time. It was very well written and very funny. The movie is done very well also. Again, Bender the robot steals all the scenes. His voice is one of the best fitting in all of animation. If you are a fan of the original series I would highly recommend the movie. All the favorite regular characters are back plus many of the minor characters such as RoboSanta. Sometimes the time travel gets confusing and its best to not think about it to hard and just enjoy the show. You're not going to live 1000 years to see the future so do the next best thing and buy this DVD and see it that way!
I decided to buy Futurama's straight to DVD movie because I am addicted to the show. Now you might ask, "What about the quality?, What about the writing?, What about the story?, What about?, What about? What about? . . ." I can't tell you if Fry and Leela Kiss, and since it's going to air soon anyway, you'll find out soon enough. Something I can say, all kinds of little things get explained, from what happened to a dog that can do three things at once to why Fry has a tattoo he does't remember getting. Here's hoping that there are more episodes to come, and that they come out once a year. Now I rated this excellent because I couldn't rate it between the good and excellent. This is really just 4 more episodes strung together. Four great episodes, but not a movie. If you're a fan of the show, and have all the episodes on DVD and keep a spare DVD player for when DVDs go the way of Video Tape, then you'll want this, and you'll love it, and you'll want more. Just a thought though, the more people who tell Matt and David that they'll buy future Futurama, the more that will come out.Read full review
This was like watching one long episode so it was nice not to be watching it broken up into sections I enjoyed the movie it’s just as good as the regular episodes

Basically one feature-length Futurama episode, but with a weaker and more flickery storyboard than usual. I'm a huge fan of the series, but this was somewhat of a disappointment. It's of course nice to see Futurama take vengeance from beyond the grave on the FOX network that cancelled them, but after the initial rebellious executive-bashing, the show spirals downwards. Animation is as crisp and clean as ever, and the characters are all there, but somehow the story moves with a limp. It's never really exciting, and the re-appearance of a number of sideline characters that have appeared during the span of the television series feels a bit forced and not motivated storywise. This is a good buy if you just can't get enough of Futurama, but it's not a must-have and certainly not Futurama's finest hour.Read full review
There Back baby. After being taken off the air for a few years The Planet Express crew came back for a great 4 movie deal, with a continuation of the old series after that. This movie is one of the funniest stories ever told in Futurama and is also a Great move regarding Time Travel. I recommend this to fans of Time Travel and Futurama who are new to the show or even old fans that missed it while it was gone.
Outstanding! I got into Futurama while it was being replayed on Cartoon Network, and I'd always thought that it was a shame it got canceled, since I found it to be much better written then the extremely long running Simpsons. This movie is a fantastic return for our long missed heroes; Lela, Fry, and of course Bender and the rest of the Futurama cast! In fact, I think every character that has ever been on the show makes at least a quick appearance in this blockbuster. The story ties into just about ever aspect of the tv series up until this point, and is written to tie into specific events throughout the series in a way that is both smart and intriguing. There are unexpected plot twists, edge of your seat action sequences, and the great comedy that the fans of the show would expect. You'll want to watch it over and over again. TWO BIG THUMBS UP, and if you disagree with me, then YOU CAN KISS MY SHINY METAL @$$ CHUMPS AND CHUMPETS :O)Read full review
Television networks seem to continuously underestimate their fans. "Family Guy"? Resurrected. "Firefly"? Back from the dead. "Futurama"? Well, it took two years, but the Planet Express crew returns with the first of four direct-to-DVD movies, "Bender's Big Score." And boy does Matt Groening and David X. Cohen know how to deliver. "Bender's Big Score" picks up almost exactly where the series left off. Fry is still pining for Leela; Professor Farnsworth is still forgetful as ever; and Bender is still pilfering everything in sight. Only this time, the robot with a shiny metal derriere has come under the control of nudist aliens who are threatening a hostile takeover of Earth. Fans can expect all their favorites back in action from Zap Brannigan and Kif Kroaker to Richard Nixon and Al Gore in a hilarious cameo. Die hards and newcomers alike will not be disappointed. Futurama is back with the first of four 88 minute, 'made for dvd' joints. They've all been written, alls they to do is produce them. Apparently, according to Groening and Co. on the commentary track of this DVD, it was the nasty old Fox executives idea to do more than one. Cost efficiencies, don't ya know. Well, hooray for economic rationalism. At last a win for the long suffering creators and their fans. Bender's Big Score is a great kick-off. A reasonably complicated plot, actually took me a second viewing and a listen of the commentary track to pick it all up. A lot of work has gone in to maintaining the continuity and integrity of the characters and stories constructed throughout the TV series. The love and effort of the creators shows through. All up, the true fan will not be disappointed and will be keening for the next three.Read full review
I love the TV series, and was really excited to hear about the upcoming movies. Unfortunately, the movie does not stand in the standards set by the series. Do not get me wrong -- it is funnier than most movies produced today -- but I know that next time I will want to see a Futurama, I will go to the TV set and not to the movie. I hope the movie will improve on second watch. I know I will see the movies to come, hoping they will give new insights (I understand they are at least partly connected). If this does not happen, the movie can be considered as a longer episode, which is not one of the best.
Even if you aren't a fan of the show you will still enjoy the story, but some of the inside jokes might go over your head. The main story line starts with identity theft, but brings it to a planet-wide epidemic. Time travel plays a huge part in the plot, as well as paradox. There are definitely twists and turns that may require you to pay a little more attention than you would expect with an animated movie. Of course they pay tribute to the timeless themes of love and loss, and good versus evil. Don't expect a nice tidy ending, though. This movie definitely leaves you wondering what happens next in the lives of the Planet Express crew.
