Needed a slightly smaller tire, where the previous tire was rubbing on the chain stay. I've always liked Panaracer tires and I especially appreciate blackwall tires, as they seem to last longer. These tires have a nice all-purpose tread.

They really roll smooth over bumps setup as tubeless. They feel like tubulars. Surprising grip when off road.

At 310g the 27.5x38 Gravel King is one of the lightest puncture resistant tires in its class. The shallow diamond/file tread gives a surprising amount of grip on most surfaces, even wet pavement. An added bonus is that they are among the least expensive folding tires in their class as well as being some of the best performers. Overall I would rate these as an excellent choice for pavement and dirt road use, but for more technical trail use the tread definitely isn't enough. I tried these tubeless, but had poor results, with the rim/rim strip combination that was on my bike at the time. The 700c version of this tire also beats almost every non-raceday tire for weight (270g for 700x28) and has better puncture resistance and tread wear than the lighter racing focused tires, I'd say its the best mix of grip, durability and light weight I have found, with the possible exception of the Vittoria Rubino Pro G+, which is both less dirt road capable and significantly more expensive.Read full review
