About this product

Product Information

Tippi is no ordinary child. She believes that she has the gift of talking to animals and that they are like brothers to her. 'I speak to them with my mind, or through my eyes, my heart or my soul, and I see that they understand and answer me.' Tippi is the daughter of French filmmakers and wildlife photographers, Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, who have captured her on film with some of Africa's most beautiful and dangerous animals. Tippi shares her thoughts and wisdom on Africa, its people and the animals she has come to know and love. Often her wisdom is beyond her years, and her innocence and obvious rapport with the animals is both fascinating and charming.

Reviews
Tippi: My Book of Africa, photography by Sylvie Robert and Alain Degre is an exquisite book of drop-dead photography that will literally have you exclaiming with mouth open, "I can't believe this is real!" In the narrative Tippi explains how it feels to grow up "wild" and how much she loves animals and Africa. She claims that she can communicate silently with each one. A white child, she was born in Namibia and grew up in Africa and is now 23 years old living in France. The photographs of her as a young child in Africa were taken by her parents who are French film-makers and still photographers and spent seven years in the Kalahari taking pictures of meerkats. The images in this book are UNBELIEVABLE as the little girl plays with and rides on various wild animals. She does explain that the animals she is with were either in a park or a protected area, but they are still wild. The photography is exquisite...You just MUST see this book to believe it.

  • Big book with stunning warm photographs

A book for children and adults who love seeing man and the nature world (plus with African tribes) can go together. Photographs are wide across the page and are high quality. My 4 yo and me myself enjoyed the book so much. Definitely something to keep at the coffee table, or for homeschoolers who want children to explore Africa, or to explore nature.

  • Wonderful story of a child raised in Africa

I loved the photographs of Tippi as she visited her various African animal friends. She had a lovely upbringing among these wild creatures.
