About this product

Product Information

Some of Hollywood's hottest writers lend their talents to this richly animated Batman anthology, featuring entries by David Goyer (BATMAN BEGINS), Josh Olson (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE), and Alan Burnett (BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES). With six stories in all, GOTHAM KNIGHT offers thrilling interpretations of the Caped Crusader, rendered in a style that recalls the dark and lurid lines of Japanese anime. Together, these interconnecting tales trace Batman from his early days battling evildoers in crime-plagued Gotham, to his later years as the metropolis's trusted defender. Along the way, the Dark Knight has shadowy showdowns with some of his most fearsome enemies, including Scarecrow, Killer Croc, and Dead Shot. Chock-full of explosive action sequences and bat gadgets, this continuation of the Batman saga is sure to bowl over both comic book nerds and fans of the feature films.

  • Batman does Anime

I am not a fan of Anime or Manga AT ALL--I consider the vast majority of those arts to lack originality, focus, plot, and all those other things that typically transform a mere bunch of words into an actual "story." But because the DVD was cheap and because I am a huge fan of Nolan's Batman, I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. There are six stories in this collection, all of them fun to watch. It really helped that each story came with its own "style" of artwork, which meant it avoided seeming too much like an Anime movie. The stories also were typically well-constructed, especially the one at the beginning--they not only had a great deal of action in them, they also provided several intriguing character studies. Some of the stories here (possibly all of them, I'm ...

  • Not Bad,Batman fans will enjoy.

This animated movie tells six different stories. Most of the animation is okay.I was never really into anime cartoons, which alot of this looks like. The way Bruce Wayne is drawn in a few of these leaves something to be desired. The story lines are really interesting,I think. The best one in terms of animation and storyline in my opinion is the one that features Deadshot as the villain. Kevin Conroy does the voice for Batman. He was perfect in "Batman the Animated Series",but seems out of place here(except somehow in the Deadshot chapter).I wish they would have had him or someone else talk in the low, deep voice that Christian Bale uses in "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight".All in all, good watching for Batman fans.

  • Batman with a Japanese Twist

This is one more product of WB's strategy to release DVD-only titles in parallel to theatrical releases in order to boost DVD sales, helped by the main movie. Instead of a full length story, what you will find in here in "Batman Gotham Knight" is six short animations which are not exactly interwined amongst themselves as the product description in the DVD case says (at least in my opinion), but six different stories on how Batman came to be who he is. It is not a mandatory bridge between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight", but it is an interesting addition for fans. Why the "Japanese Twist" in the review title? Well, watch the DVD, look in the eyes of each character and you will get the answer. And if you still doubt about it, wait for the rolling credits in the end and see the names ...

  • Batman - Gotham Knight...

... is a DVD worth watching.... once. Why? It has a different feel to it, a sort of 'anime' style for some of the characters. The artwork is Okay in the first few chapters of this DVD, and gets better in the latter epsiodes. This DVD is taken from the Animated Batman series that was shown on TV. It is worth watching once IHMO, but unless you are a true Batfanatic, it probably doesn't belong in your collection of DVDs. If you are a completist... then you might want to consider it. There was nothing about the DVD worth watching again, or to have to pull out to refresh your memory on an episode. It isn't even presented as a 'Best Of' the TV series.... Entertaining for a single showing... definitely a 'rental' in my opinion. Michael

  • Batman: Gotham Knight

I have been a fan of Batman for as long as I can remember and I must say this one is quite different. I not usually into Japanese anime version films but this is an exception. I rented it once and that's how I knew I'd be interested. I don't exactly enjoy all six short films, but it's still enjoyable. I also liked that Kevin Conroy was the voice for Batman. I always thought he was best suited for that role in animated versions This film does contain a bit of violence and bloody scenes, but I don't find that disturbing. If your a Batman fan or enjoy Japanese anime, this, I think, would be a fitting dvd to add to your collection.
