About this product

Product Information

Originally aired on television in 2005 as a two-part series, CATEGORY 7: THE END OF THE WORLD was presented as the sequel to CATEGORY 6: DAY OF DESTRUCTION, an extravagant CBS miniseries that served as a vehicle for some spectacular special effects. Here, Gina Gershon stars as FEMA-head Judith Carr, whose work involves investigating the severe storms that are cropping up all over the planet. Involving extreme religion, kidnapping, and natural disaster, CATEGORY 7: THE END OF THE WORLD further elaborates on a breathtaking nightmare scenario sure to keep audiences on the edges of their seats.

  • Uneven movie --- some parts A+, some C

This DVD was originally aired as a 2-part TV mini-series. When watched straight through on DVD, without commercials, it comes across as uneven. It is obvious where the original commercial breaks occurred; they pause the action at odd moments. The first half is somewhat slow; stick with it, the second half is MUCH better. The special effects are some of the best, and most unique, I've seen in a disaster fim: the Eiffel Tower whipping in the wind, George Washington's head breaking off of Mount Rushmore, the White House's destruction as seen from INSIDE the building. Some of the supporting performances are excellent; but, oddly, the best actors (Randy Quaid, Shannen Doherty, Tom Skerritt) are wasted in very small parts. Gina Gershon plays the leading role of FEMA's director, which for me ...

  • Excellent movie!! A must see movie!!

Excellent movie!! Very well portrayed. The dialog kept you on your toes. This movie portrayed what could very well happen because of global warming. Times are getting worse and weather is getting more intensed. The average water temperature is warmer than normal which leads to more intensed storms with more frequency. As a Storm Chaser, I see the storms getting this way. Bible prophecy evens predicts this kind of weather. I am not trying to project gloom and doom, but facts are facts. A couple of examples would be to look at Hurricane Katrina last year and also the F5 tornado that hit Oklahoma City area in May,1999. I study weather very deeply and I do travel all over the US. I see different types of weather. This movie will get you to thinking about what could happen in the near future ...

  • Title and graphics grab your attention immediately.

I had seen Category 6 and when I learned there was a Category 7, had to have it. Love the continuing story line from the previous movie, the characters (especially Tommy Tornado), and the graphics. The only negative thing is Tommy's explanation of how the previous tornado picked him and his truck up yet he went outside the truck and landed in a lake???!! That's just not believable due to all the debris a tornado picks up. But to have him in this movie I guess you had to come up with some explanation of how he survived the category 6 tornado.
