An all-star cast proves just how far people will go for the chance to win $2 million in Jerry Zucker's RAT RACE. In the tradition of Zucker's AIRPLANE and NAKED GUN 2-1/2: THE SMELL OF FEAR, this film features wild chase scenes, slapstick comedy, sight gags, impossible situations, and zany characters. Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Lovitz, Rowan Atkinson, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Seth Green, and Breckin Meyer star as the lucky winners of special tokens in the slot machines at a Las Vegas casino. Casino owner John Cleese informs them that they are invited to participate in a race: the first of them to reach Silver City, New Mexico, will receive the $2 million cash prize. To make things interesting, there are no rules, which leads to the commandeering of a bus, a run-in with Nazis, the use of a high-speed experimental car, and revenge on a cheating boyfriend--And that's just the beginning. In the meantime, the participants are really part of a bigger plan: high rollers are betting on which of them will win the cash. Watch for brief appearances by Kathy Bates, Dean Cain, and Wayne Knight. Also starring Amy Smart, Kathy Najimy, Lanai Chapman, and Vince Vieluf.

    Funny Movie

    Remembered this from years ago, hard to find now, but worth shopping for. Lots of funny cameos. Mostly slap stick comedy and very entertaining. Worth watching a couple of times, easy to miss some of the puns and jokes.

    Timeless slapstick comedy

    The 90's was a decade for comedy because they let writers write and actors act. Yes a slice of naughty nudity makes it not a G rating, but that's because we are Americans and don't have statues of naked people in our capital cities. It is a star studded cast and the very first time a saw Seth Green on film. A laugh is worth a thousand groans in any market. This is a keeper.

    Exercise in silliness

    Rat Race wasn't the best comedy of 2002, but it doesn't disappoint if you are looking for a few laughs. In the tradition of The Cannonball Run and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, this Jerry Zucker film never has a moment where a joke isn't being played out, or at the very least, set up. Yes, there are moments of overacting, but the characters are convincing and memorable enough to outweigh the heavy-handedness of the humor. Jon Lovitz, Rowan Atkinson, and the pairing of Seth Green and Vince Vieluf bring enough charm to their roles that you can simply sit back and enjoy the scenes involving them, unlike the rest of the cast. This is a great movie to watch with a large group of people -- usually the more people there are, the greater the laughs with this kind of movie.

    Slapstick Humor

    This inane, comical DVD will give most viewers belly laughs and tears in the eyes. Adolescent gags mean this is not a sophisticated movie, but if one wants to relax and have fun for 112 minutes, this is your movie. Getting a transplant- a living organ- to its patient from the donor is not easy with Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, and Whoopi Goldberg involved. These actors know fun! Fully recommended.
