About this product

Product Information

In the first feminist critique of modern political theory, Okin shows how the failure to apply theories of justice to the family not only undermines our most cherished democratic values but has led to a major crisis over gender-related issues.

  • Pure propaganda: In fact, it's a "divorce tutorial".

Okin's book concentrating on "race, gender, and other socially constructed inequalities" is just another product of our "newthink" university indoctrination system. Is this the sort of subject we really want to read? Do we have to keep dwelling on what color and gender we all are? How most of us are actually "victims"? Must family become a battleground? The politically correct crowd want us to think life is all about power and oppression, and that somehow our lives can all be made better if we just diversify, twist gender roles, and constantly oppose the system. But, you must understand that the whole oppressor-victim orientatation stems from a Marxist worldview. By forcing us, upon pain of public censure, to endlessly repeat these illogical mantras we lose our culture, our history, and ...

  • Great book

This is a great book with a very interesting feminist view. Okin brings into her arguments the family, which according to her has been neglected by political scientists. I really do suggest this book as an overview on how family is important and how private is in fact public.
