Enlightening, Delightful Book
This book came out in 1970 and my book was just falling apart. But I found several at Thrift Books and ordered one paper back and this one that is hard cover. I am absolutely thrilled with them, especially the hardcover as it is dated the same year as my old one. This little book is a very delightful read. You learn about sheep and will be surprised immensely at the way they are! Keller then shows how much we are so much like sheep and how we need a Shepherd. Psalm 23 is one of my favorite Scriptures and it has more meaning to me because of this book. I recommend this book to all who want to understand deeply why Jesus said He is the Good Shepherd, and to understand King David (a shepherd, who was the 'apple of God's eye') who wrote it. Interesting, entertaining book!
This is an exceptionally good book! The one like this, brown cover, is the original which seems to be out of print. They have revised it but if you can find this original, I would buy it. I didn't realize how dependent sheep are and God considers us his "sheep." He's the One who has to continually care for us, protect us, provide for us and I think we are rarely aware of it. I enjoyed reading this book and got so much out of it. Phillip Keller is an excellent writer. Interestingly enough, his name is wrong on the front of the book. It's W.
