Do a lot of research before you buy a Pertronix distributor.....there are a lot of variables
This was listed to fit my Continental engine but it did not. The information on the web sites is terribly incomplete. After receiving the distributor it did not have near the correct shaft. Ok, I am a machinist so I made an adapter to fit the engine.....no easy project. After mounting it to the engine it would idle fine but engine would not come up to rpm. After some research I found I had ordered the wrong Pertronix coil. There are two types 3 ohm and 1 ohm. Again, there was no mention of this on the web site so I ordered the correct one. Same problem after installing the new one. After more troubleshooting I found the distributor was retarding the spark rather than advancing the spark as the rpm increases. Now I find that Continental made two engines of this series....one ... This was listed to fit my Continental engine but it did not. The information on the web sites is terribly incomplete. They do not make a distributor for the counterclockwise rotation. My final result was removing the plate from the Pertronix distributor and attaching it to the point plate on my existing distributor to get it running correctly.
