    Lytro camera

Pros: easy to use, decent quality photos, use in most lighting conditions, auto adjusts to lighting conditions, fits in pocket or purse, no flash needed. Cons: company is defunct so no support or updates are available, controls are difficult to see because they are touch only and are same color as rubberized screen surround (I painted the zoom function white to make it easier to find), it takes a long time to fully charge, it does not work well with Windows 32 bit (Windows 64 bit works like a charm). My overall opinion: I like this camera. It is as easy to use as a point and shoot model without the bulk. I can use it with one hand. It has a wrist strap so there is little fear of me dropping it. I do not have to carry spare batteries around with me for the flash. Fits easily into my ...

    Save your MONEY

The company no longer supports this camera. You need their desktop software to download the images from the camera to your computer. You can use a (App) and upload to the cloud... and I don't know how that works, as I have not done that, and the pictures become public .... There software is not backward compatible, so if you don't have a new Mac, running a certain GPU you can not run their software... and all that means nothing as there is no longer any support for the retail consumer.. so you have a nice looking paper weight. On the plus side, if you do have a computer that supports the software the camera takes about 400 pics at a time. It recharges from a usb cable. Once you understand the controls it is an easy camera to use, as you don't focus it as such...

  • Does take pictures - the rest is for R&D to attend to :-)

It does take pictures. Zoom in automatic mode is Max X5.5 and in artistic mode Max X8. Software - only by download (No CD) and only installs to c:program files. No way to install elsewhere. In the software - problems determining where it will put the pics imported from the camera. Only (again) to C:\users\\My pictures. Hopefully this will change so it can be installed where you want and import pictures to where YOU determin. No arragement for tripod use and no flash or external flash connection. Also even though there is a self timer, there is no remote controller (wired or wireless). On the website - guidance only for the well over $1000 new model (2nd generation. The reviewed one is 1st generation and costs around $130 - new from Lytro store). For smartphone - only application for ...

  • Amazing little device

This is a very small unit - easy to take with you, just slip it in a pocket. The onboard storage lets you take loads of photos, and the battery lasts for days. It's really easy to operate, although getting my head around taking photos with a view to depth of field took me a while. Because you look through it like a telescope, it's not that easy to use if you want to get a low angle, but that's true for other fixed viewfinder cameras. I haven't got an iOS device, so I can't use the wifi connection. Depth of field photographs, and the ability to refocus after the photo has been taken, are amazing. It's changed my approach to photography.

  • Good purchase, kitchy product.

I purchased this camera to play with the technology. They are way overpriced if you buy them new, so used was a great option. The screen is tiny and is basically useless. The lens cover is held on, barely, by magnets and comes off in my pocket or bag before it even gets all the way in. The technology is fascinating and works pretty well. Unless a major player like instagram starts using the technology so people can post pictures to their feed and followers can play with focusing the pictures for themselves, it's not going to catch on and is doomed to be a relic that we will see in 10 years on a "Remember the 20-teens" show along with bluetooth headsets and other junk.
