About this product

Product Information

Capture stunning images and vivid details with the Canon FD 135mm f/3.5 FD Lens. One of the more vintage options for photographers, the product has a number of features and designs that are sought by photography professionals all over the world. The 135mm lens itself is part of the Canon FD model line. These are older models that were manufactured for use with Canon film cameras. Newer lenses feature the "EF" design, making it easy to tell the difference. This FD product features a manual focus ring on the front so you can get the exact focus that you are looking for. There is no automatic focus built into the design. It has a locking mechanism that attaches to Canon camera bodies and snaps into place. This helps keep the FD secure while shooting images and carrying the camera on the go. The FD is an all-black design to help match a majority of the camera bodies offered by the company. Controls and lettering used on the FD are featured in white writing so that it has a high contrast and is easy to read. The Canon FD lens has a fixed focal length of 135 millimeters. This means that the lens will always remain at this zoom. It is up to the photographer to move around to get a specific angle. The 135mm length provides a large zoom that allows a person to capture details from a distance. For example, the product is ideal for capturing images of wildlife. Birds, deer, and fox can all have their picture taken from a distance without being disturbed. The long zoom capabilities are also ideal for sporting events. You can easily capture shots of players or on-field action while using this lens. It has a variety of options and offers a lot of great detail within the design. These lenses also have a maximum F-stop of 3.5. This means that the aperture of the product can be narrowed down to a 3.5 setting. With this setting, you can create extremely sharp foreground photography while adding a soft touch to the background. It is an ideal way to add some depth to your photos. The F-stop can be set manually right on the lens so that it is easy to adjust and change while shooting photos. If more light is needed, the amount can easily be adjusted and changed to adapt to the new settings. Increasing the number will allow more light to go in and let you capture greater details in the distance. Choosing a higher aperture number is ideal for taking landscape shots or large group shots like a family portrait. The Canon FD 135mm was originally designed to fit only on the Canon series of film products. As new cameras were developed, adapters were created so that the FD lenses could still be used by photography experts. Using these adapters will allow you to take advantage of the FD on any type of digital Canon product. The product operates using the same functions and features found on the designs.

A nice lens on the cheap!

To be honest, I recently bought a new camera with an adapter to accept Canon lenses, and when I ordered this lens I had no idea what I wanted or needed in a lens. I actually bought a few different lenses, and this lens seems to be excellent. The fixed focal length gives you a little bit more flexibility with aperture, but you will want to make sure that this focal length is something you want. That said, the lens is likely <$30 so the risk is fairly low. Overall, this lens, like most of the old school Canon lenses, works great as long as you don't mind messing with the manual focus and aperture. It's not super likely that I'll use this lens on a regular basis due to the specific focal length, but I have it in case I need it.

  • A great "prime" lens for Canon!

This is basically the consumer lens from the early 70's for the Canon FD-mount film cameras. As expected, this is a sturdy build with good glass. Images are sharp, and the lens works as expected. Shooting with prime lenses instead of zooms forces you to think more directly about choices for your composition. So a great lens that sparks your creativity!
