  • Birth of Ozzfest!

    Often referred to as "the one that started it all" Ozzfest '97 was the largest pioneering gathering of metal or "misfit" bands of the time. By misfit, I mean the bands that were deemed too intense for Lalapalooza the same year. The audio for this release was actually recorded in 1996 (See "the ozzfest" 1996 VHS only) This CD is a handful of audio destruction and energy that can be proudly cranked up in you car with the windows down even today. Park the car, open the booklet from the CD case and check out the band bios while listening. Kicking off with Coal Chamber's LOCO, one is introduced to a SICK bass line and guitar incomprehensibly crunchy. Jam through Cellophane and Earth Crisis, both commendable performances, to arrive at Powerman 5000's "Organized". I didn't think funky metal was ...
