I purchased a generic replacement a few years ago because the original Microsoft power cord wouldn't work right side up and I had forgotten this. The new one is the very same - i.e. there seems to be a glitch in the power cord when it's installed right side up - so I've had to use it upside down - this means it's probably going to get a short in a few months from hanging off the plug while being used.
