Definitely Worthwhile
This device is very helpful, but not perfect. The ziplock bag mine arrived in will store it nicely on the shelf between oil changes. The plastic this drain trough is made of has a nice flexibility to it (not brittle). It's a little tricky to work this in under the steering linkage, but the steering rod did hold it in place solidly while I drained the oil. The vast majority of the oil flows out of this thing in a nice steady stream. The next time I use it, I will put some 2X4s under the left side tires, so that the slight bit of oil that leaks out behind this will flow off the drain side of the frame. Also, I'll pack some paper towel in on the sides of this where it meets the engine, as a sort of gasket wedged in under there. You could instead drill holes in the frame and go with ... oil drain sleeve
I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the oil drain plug on these lawn mowers, but without this drain sleeve it's an incredibly messy job. This drain sleeve is perfectly contoured to fit in the confined space available, making an oil change much easier. If a person was handy with a pocket knife they could make a useable drain sleeve from an empty oil bottle. So this is a very good product that does the intended job with a minimum of fuss. Not quite what I expected.
It fits but leaks oil in the back. You gotta hold it tight against the oil nut wall. Still gotta clean the floor. I am now using the syphon method and that is simple and no mess....Why didn't I think of that before...thanks to YouTube.
