Lots of good recipes listed, some very similar to each other

There are many good sounding recipes. I have not had a chance to try any of them yet, just recently got my book. However, I do notice 2 things that kept me from giving it 5 stars. There are many recipes that seem to be repeats except for a slight name change, and a couple of ingredients different; otherwise almost a copy of other recipes. Also, there are NO pictures of the food or ingredients....just small generic sketches or drawings. I would much rather had a small or medium sized picture of the ingredients or finished dinner rather than a tiny black/white drawing of a crock pot, or a little picnic table with an umbrella, just to fill in a spot on the page. Many of her meat/ dinner recipes list mushrooms as an ingredient, and I'm allergic to mushrooms, so not sure what to add as a ...

  • Elderly Life Change

I loved my copy, ordered 2 others and sent them to my daughters, who are also diabetics. It is so hard when you become near 70 yrs old and they tell you "You are Diabetic". You have no idea what you now have to elimate from your daily menu's. In fact you no longer know how to plan a menu. When you retire, you no longer have that secure schedule you had maintained for the past 45-50 years. It's like erasing all those years and starting over. My cookbook has given me a menu for a week, it has taken the "what am I allowed to eat" "How much can I have" and best of all the recipes are all in one book so I can sit down, scan thru the recipes and plan a week or two in advance, knowing that my grocery shopping can now be a couple times a month, instead of that weekly dreaded chore of reading ...

  • Fix-It & Forget-It Slow Cooker Diabetic Cookbook

What a great book! Each recipe is simple and concise. They include Exchange List Values and Basic Nutritional Values information listed at the end of each one. Nice sketches are peppered throughout, and tips are also sprinkled within the 284 pages. This is more than just a cookbook. It is meant to be helpful in other ways. For instance, it lists the 10 Most Asked Questions About Diabetes and supplies a recommended reading list from the American Diabetes Association as well as low-sodium recipes for mixes & sauces. It also includes a week of menus that consist of 3 meals and 2 snacks for a total of about 1500 calories; and it lists their exchange value and nutritional breakdown, too. It also supplies the total number of nutrients for each day's menu and compares it to healthy, nutritional ...

  • Great book for individuals that are tring to limit their carbohydrates.

This helps me make small meals, since I live in a home with two individuals, and he use this book every day. I really like the author and I have several of her books.

  • Great slow cooker book

You don't have to be a diabetic to enjoy the recipes in this book. I love my Crockpot that I can load in the morning and forget until dinner.
