Decent for the price
Not bad for the price, imaging in lower magnification (4x, 10x objectives) using 10x eyepiece is clear and bright. Higher magnification (40x And up) gets a bit dark and hard to see - not uncommon w/o Kohler illumination, which costs much more. Bulb is not halogen, it is incandescent. Condenser has a swing out filter holder for colored filters or darkfield patch stop. Condenser must be lowered all the way to open the filter holder. Higher magnification eyepieces than 10x are not needed and perform worse with 40x or higher objectives. Have ordered a mech stage and 60x plan objective for it to replace the 100x oil. Will eventually order 4, 10 and 40x plan objectives as well. Build is solid and I feel it's a decent entry level scope for the $.
