OK for those who touch screen features but not a smart phone

These phones fill the need for those of us who do not need or want a smart phone. I has a decent camera, directory features etc but is not long lived, I'm on my second unit and my most recent purchase is in reserve should this one begin to show signs of failure. There seems to be a developing void in choices for folks like me who do not want the expense of a full featured phone but like touch screen technology...

  • Great little phone for it's price.

It's a cheap phone. With that being said, it's an excellent phone for the price. As with any net10, the internet is cumbersome to the point of being too frustrating to even bother with, but it is there. Even with it being a phone that runs apps, I wouldn't call it a smart phone because you can't download free apps from the market. You have to use their apps which costs you minutes. However, that's the thing to do with your leftover minutes on your last day of service because you are going to lose them anyhow. The menu is pretty straight forward and easy to get around in. The touch screen isn't as sensitive as I would like except when I'm putting it up I somehow hit the net and it goes online while I'm not paying attention and eats minutes. I went to this from the lg900 to get the touchpad, ...

  • For What it is, It's a nice phone.

I gave it a 3 for features, just because it's an older model. I gave it a three for ease of use because it didn't come with a instruction book. And the battery lasts and lasts, so gave it a 5 for that. And I think that for what it is, right now, it's an excellent value. I have this phone and love it. This phone has nice features. I like that it will go online, The touch screen makes it feel like one of the expensive phones, The phone book has the option of using handwriting, which is a feature that I really enjoyed, and it will allow multiple variations and unlimited phone numbers for each name. And it has a touch qwerty keyboard on some screens where you really need it. Sure, it won't use those apps that the new phones use, However, there are a few apps for it. One nice feature is that ...

  • It took some getting used to ,for sure.

I purchased this phone just to replace an aging motorola flip phone I had been using for a long time. This LG 800 took some serious getting used to for me. The sleep feature puts the phone to sleep even when your using it,retriving voice-mail and the screen goes to sleep mode and the dial-pad disappears. Now I know you can disable the sleep mode but then when you put it in your pocket it goes online or makes a call or does whatever. So I finally got it and removed the icons from the home screen so it could'nt do that anymore. I have no complaints about reception or battery life ,thats all good so Now that I'm getting used to it I think its a good buy.

  • Good value for a touch screen. Don't buy it for the camera though

Not quite a "Smart Phone", this touch screen LG model IS a logical step up from their earlier versions. Touch navigation is fairly smooth and responsive, but sometimes a little too responsive especially if you have large fingers. So a stylus is recommended for some people. Especially when using the virtual qwerty keyboard. The mp3 player sounds fantastic (depending on your earphones, frankly) but the phone only supports up to 4gb external memory. This is overall a strong value for a $30/$40 touch screen phone. I have to say though, the camera on this model is awful. It's a lame 2mp with the shutter function accessed only on the touch screen. So you fumble to take the pic, and the shutter actually clicks a split sec. later. Very nostalgic of the earliest days of digital cameras. Anyway, ...
