About this product

Product Information

Millions of readers have come to adore New York Times best-selling author Sophie Kinsella's irrepressible heroine. Meet Becky Bloomwood, America's favorite shopaholic a young woman with a big heart, big dreams…and just one little weakness. Becky has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford itnot any of it. Her job writing at Successful Savings not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from the bank letters with large red sums she can't bear to readand they're getting ever harder to ignore. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Becky's only consolation is to buy herself something ... just a little something.... Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her lifeand the lives of those around herforever. Sophie Kinsella has brilliantly tapped into our collective consumer conscience to deliver a novel of our timesand a heroine who grows stronger every time she weakens. Becky's hilarious schemes to pay back her debts are as endearing as they are desperate. Her "confessions" are the perfect pick-me-up when life is hanging in the (bank) balance.

  • The Best Series EVER!

Please see my other review on this book. Becky is the best character I have enjoyed in some time. She has given me reason to not watch TV. Start here, book one and you will be hooked with me. Becky is this crazy and zany girl who let's life revolve around shopping, money and sometimes unrealistic expectations. She has a mess of a life and you get to be the fly on the wall. I cannot say enough about this amazing author and series. I am in love. I had not been reading for years. Now thanks to Sophie I am a book worm. A book takes just a week. I suggest the tapes for the first read. That way you get the cute british voice in your head for when you read later. You need to read these in order. I cannot believe how easy she is to read. It is better than Grey's Anatomy. Read this one after ...

  • A REAL Hoot! Great Reading Between eBay Auction Bids.

Sophie Kinsella's novel, "Confessions of a Shopaholic," is a hoot and- having known one or two people like this, myself- all too realistic. If you've ever paid off one credit card with another, thrown out a bill before opening it, had clothes hanging in your closet or piled in your dresser that you've never worn, or convinced yourself that buying a cart-full of buy-one-get-one free items is like making money, then this caricature novel is for you. Rebecca Bloomwood, the protagonist, is a recent college graduate who is offered a line of credit by a London bank. Within a few months, she has exceeded the credit limits, and begins stealthily scanning her credit card bills at work, before ceasing to open the bills at all. As a writer for the finance magazine, "Successful Saving," the world ...

  • Great book! Highly recommend!!

I haven't finished reading the entire book yet, but I am really enjoying it so far! I'm about half way through. It's highly entertaining!! Since the book takes place in the UK, it helps if you know about little bit about their culture, because it can be a bit confusing if you don't. Being a shopaholic myself, I find this book hilarious and insightful as I read about all the trials and tests this poor girl goes through in her effort not to shop. I would recommend this book to any girl or woman who enjoys shopping!

  • HILARIOUS

I'm not a big fan of "chick-lit" as a genre, but this book--as well as Sophie Kinsella's other books-- is truly one of the funniest books I've ever read. I couldn't put it down and I immediately purchased her other books, as well. Rebecca, the heroine, is just hilarious-- justifying her purchases, alternatively ignoring and rueing the financial dilemma she creates for herself. One doesn't have to be in the same economic predicament Rebecca is in to relate to her. A fun, fun read.

  • loved it!

This book was really good, it has 350 pages, but it went by so quickly because it was an easy read, and i also couldnt put it down. It was a really cute story. I wont give anything away but it was about a girl who loves to shop who has some issues she needs to face and possibly does in the end. They are making a movie right now and i cant wait to see what they keep the same and what is different! i definitely recommend this book.
