The steel seems heavy duty and well up to the task of holding a coiled mainspring safely. The packaging was a ziploc bag per each set of clamps. The two sets were sent in a bubble wrap mailing envelope along with a packing slip with the order information. If this is an indication of the care and quality provided by KRIEGER CLOCK PARTS, I will gladly buy from them again. Cheers!
