All the PS1 Armored Core's have thier pros and cons and this one is no different. The Cons This one has tons of Arena battles, the only problems is you are limited to about 10 of the crappiest maps in the whole series for -every- -single- -battle-. It sucks some of the joy out what should have been the best game in the series. The giant crashed space ship sticking straight out of the ground- only link cable vs, the underground city- only link cable vs, the floating islands- only link cable, the ravine- only link cable vs. What they give you is the most boring, flattest and barren arenas to play 100 AI opponents. So learn the short-boost-circle-strafe-hop move because that is THE primary tactic in open flat arenas. Also new is you often no longer have a choice when deciding to fight in Arena match or the Mission. Soon as I was getting into a groove of one or the other the game forced me to switch. This isnt a problem once you beat the game, but I found it incredibly annoying. Neutral Level and mission design isnt quite as good as the first game, but much better than Project Phatasma. Pros More parts! Better arena AI than Project Phantasma. Lots of content! Make your own arena and give them specific AI profiles. Very challenging mech battles. Of course some of the difficulty is artificial since they limited the arena choices and often doubled your opponents boost energy, ammo, or ignored thier wieght limit. So when you are placed in an arena without cover and your opponent can out boost you, has bigger weapons and yet is still faster, there isnt a whole lot of strategy outside the build of your mech. That said, its still very fun, and the AI is AI, they always have a weekness :) Overall I prefer Project Phantasma for arena matches because I can play on all the maps. Sure the AI isnt as good, but I just make more experimental mech if im looking for a challenge. For missions I prefer the first Armored Core, this is the only one of the three that focused completely on missions and it shows. Master of Arena is sort of an odd duck. When it first came out I was very angry with it, it should have been hands down the best of the three in all respects. Since then Ive come to love it, its the last of my favorite generation of Armored Core. When boosting was fast and loose and the weapons OP. Good hunting!Read full review

I grew up playing armored core and loved the game but this one is... pretty disappointing and not really like the others. However, if you just want tons of arena play, this game is great because it has a second disk full of ACs to battle and it will force you to make a variety of ACs to battle with. Some of the ACs that are made are pretty tough and I'm at the point where i just put the game down and figured i had better stuff to play than hard ACs. The missions in this game are really bad... if you are a hardcore AC fan you will beat the missions like nothing and will probably only get a few scratches. The only hard mission is the very last one where you fight hyper nineball... but there is a trick to it and it becomes wayyyyy easy.
Loving it, I have three AC games and just love the Arena Feature which really puts you to work making different AC's. If it weren't the fact the game was old it would be the greatest of the AC hands down. Can't say much about the story line, but I haven't gotten to involved in those anyways. I had the game many years ago and always kept hold of the saved files for the day I'd find it again. Thnx to E-Bay I found a great seller, and now I'm enjoying a nice addition to my AC collection. Good price since it did come COMPLETE.
Building my collection of Armored Core titles! Excellent classic PS1 game.

Oh my god! you know i played all the armored core games, and till playing now till to the future. But i have to say that Master of Arena is most smooth and exciting game of all the armored core games. The new armored core games are very hard to play with and so hard to win when you fight with computer controled robots, But Master of Arena is so easy and smooth you can actrally feel you are really in control of your giant robot and just play the way you wish and got all the excitment out of the winning! Try it out you will see what i am talking about.
Probably one of the best PSX games I've played, Armored Core: Master of Arena comes with over 30 missions to play with, all being unique in its own aspect. The story of the game is also good if you care to like the story. The Arena battle is the main attraction to this game. This game has over 50 matches of different kind of ACs to battle up with, and with over 150 parts to customize, the field of battles can be destructive and yours.
Just Get It!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

This game is a classic. Although you will need an ps1 memory card in order to save the game if you happen to only own the ps2 slim. Well worth the time to play because you have multitudes of options to customize your very own mech.
