    WOW! That much?!?

    I purchased this part as "used" as a new replacement part was well over $2,000 and not available....not that I would spend that kind of money on a 25 year old car. I ended up purchasing three major components for this car (to fix the same problem) as "used" from a very reputable used parts supplier for $520 instead of the used parts that the Mercedes dealer was offering me for $2,800, and with a longer warranty than the dealer offered. If you want to keep a classic on the road, sometimes you just need to bite the bullet. The Benz runs as it should now and the dealer only charged me $1600 in labor (it's true, I can show you the bill). The moral to this story is: be careful what you purchase as a classic car. It might come to bite you in the butt!
