    Rugged old reliable laptop

    I have rehabbed over 100 Dell 620/630 and 820/830 laptops. They are pretty rugged. Some of the dell d620's and 820's have an issue that is annoying but does not seem to affect over all use. It might depend on which motherboard it comes with. Or which graphics it has. Symptom: While booting up, almost at the end it will seem to stall for 15-20 seconds then runs fine till you turn it off.. I have tried different cpu's changed bios and they still do the same thing. All 620's and 820's don't do this but I have never seen a 630 or 830 do it. Overall they are dependable if upgraded properly. Take apart, remove old dried thermal paste, add new, clean the cooler screens, install max ram supported and add a ssd.

    great computer very inexpensive

    excellent computer for field use they are rugged and work really well and they are cheap! if it gets broken you eject the hard drive and throw it in another computer. I currently own four of them.
