This is a fabulous DVD!
Anthony Burger was one of the greatest piano players in the world and this DVD shows he was also a great human being. It's a tragedy that we lost him at such a young age. I was fortunate enough to see him play about a decade ago and it remains one of the highlights of my life in my love for great music. R.I.P. Anthony Burger!

If you like piano with style, then get this DVD. This shy, small-town hero learned to play the piano when he was just three years old. He came home from a church service where he had just heard "The Old Rugged Cross" and sat down at the piano and played it - he was three years old! Burger jokes that after he helped his parents off the floor, an immediate search for someone to give him lessons began. No one would take him until he was five years old. He studied classical for nine years and was playing professionally for local quartets as a teenager. Jackie Marshall and Wally Varner were his heroes, and Burger claims these two one-man-band piano players are the guys who influenced his own unique style of playing. This DVD takes a close, intimate look at the man behind the great piano playing ... If you like piano with style, then get this DVD. This is a wonderful collection of the piano styles of Anthony Burger, former pianist for the Kingsmen Quartet then the Gaither Homecoming Series, Gaither Vocal Band, etc., etc. He won Gospel Music Association's Dove Award as the best musician for ten years in a row, prompting them to name it the "Anthony Burger Award". Unfortunately, Burger suffered a heart attack and died during a concert at sea in 2006, so the only way there can be further issues from him will be those "in the can". Combining classical training styles with his love for the gospel genre, Burger presents an amazing program. You'll love the interviews as Bill Gaither talks with him about a horrible accident that was supposed to rob him of the use of his hands. Turning a children's walker over on a floor furnace at ... GREATEST Gospel Pianist EVER !
Anthony Burger is my favorite gospel (and ANYTIME!) pianist. He loved the Lord so much that he passed to Glory right on the piano bench, mid-concert. God has shared a true blessing with us and I enjoy sharing Anthony's CDs and Videos with others.

Anthony Burger was a humble man who loved the Lord.
